OnePlus is turning its other flagship‑style phone into something that feels like a handheld gaming comfort, and it’s all much appreciated to a snap‑on controller that guarantees ultra‑fast reaction times. The upcoming OnePlus Professional 6 Ultra is set to launch on April 28, and the company has affirmed that it comes with a detachable gamepad that, on a very basic level, changes the gadget into a grip‑first gaming gadget.
A Phone That Doubles As A Handheld
OnePlus has formally certified that the Master 6 Ultra is not a gaming‑focused smartphone; it’s a little too small to work as a gaming handheld when you clip on the unused controller. The phone opens right into the gamepad, turning it into a console‑style contraption instead of depending, as it were, on touchscreen controls.
The controller is built around an ergonomic get a handle on that feels closer to an ordinary handheld than a revealed phone. It incorporates four physical buttons, button mapping choices, and space for more complex multi‑finger inputs, moving past the typical two‑thumb setup of standard convenient gaming. This makes it feel far off, closer to playing on a Nintendo Switch‑style contraption than on a standard phone.
Fast‑Thinking Buttons And Extra Cooling
Performance is a big part of OnePlus’ pitch. The controller employs micro‑mechanical switches with a 1000Hz surveying rate and a 1.8ms reaction time, which the company claims makes inputs feel greatly smart amid fast‑paced games.
To keep things from overheating, OnePlus is also including a separable attractive cooling fan that snaps onto the controller. It’s planned to offer assistance with warm scattering during long gaming sessions. The controller too has a built‑in gaming radio wire for way better flag gathering and a USB‑C harbour at the foot, so you can charge the phone while you play.
What’s Inside The Ace 6 Ultra
The phone itself is packing some serious hardware to back up the gaming‑first design. The Pro 6 Ultra is anticipated to come with:
- A 6.78‑inch 1.5K flat display
- A 165Hz refresh rate
- A MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip
- A massive 8,600mAh dual‑cell battery
- 100W fast charging

Together, those specs make it a solid contender for overwhelming portable gaming, particularly when combined with the low‑latency controller.
Is This The OnePlus Gaming Handheld Rumors Promised?
These new details have sparked a big question: Is this the standalone OnePlus gaming handheld that rumors have been teasing?
Not quite. What OnePlus is appearing here isn’t an isolated handheld in the classic sense, but a smartphone that docks into a devoted controller. That’s different from the crude spilled picture of a so‑called OnePlus gaming handheld that surfaced earlier, which looked more like a self‑contained contraption with built‑in controls and a screen.
That spilled plan still recommends a standalone OnePlus gaming handheld that seems to be in the works. But for now, there’s no solid proof that it’s coming, only hints. For the moment, OnePlus’ gaming push is riding on turning the Ace 6 Ultra into a hybrid phone‑and‑handheld combo that feels like a console in your hands.
